artist.

Welcome!About me:
I grew up in Dover, Ohio and have always been drawn to art . After initially dropping out of college I reenrolled nine years and three children later and received my BA in English Literature from KSU where I also minored in Studio Art and Creative Writing with a concentration in poetry because I am not exactly practical.
Over the next twenty years or so I worked outside the art world, squeezing in painting and poetry whenever I could. Over the last few years ( after I lost my day job) I’ve found myself spending more and more time in my studio and this work is a result.About my work:
Some time ago, I began introducing bits of fabric to my oil paintings using watered down Elmer’s glue or needle and thread. Over the years I found myself using more and more fabric and less and less paint. Currently, I work primarily with fabric that I bond to the surface of my work using heat. I sometimes incorporate other materials such as beads, scrap jewelry, or bits of mirrors. My pallet consists of various textiles - that I source from many areas.
My Inspiration:
Nature, ancient artifacts, self-reflection, the beauty and expression of spirituality from different cultures
(past and present) symbolism (universal and personal), and in the fragments of my own poetry (which oftentimes become the titles of my pieces).
I have a great love for pattern, texture and saturated color.
